Portage Elora residents speak at a panel discussion on the Four Pillars Drug Strategy

13-févr.-2012

A professor at the University of Guelph invited Portage Elora residents and staff members to participate in a series of community sessions on the Four Pillars Drug Strategy with her Corrections and Penology class this past fall. In partnership with the Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy Committee, these weekly sessions brought together many different community stakeholders - from Police Services, the Crown Attorney’s Office, Public Health, the AIDS Committee, and the Guelph Community Health Centre, to name a few.

The Portage substance abuse rehabilitation program for adolescents was presented by Christy Kolb, a Portage Elora staff member who is involved in the implementation of the Guelph Wellington Drug Strategy. The youth then spoke of their experiences with drug addiction and how Portage has helped them to overcome their substance abuse issues.
