Residential and Ambulatory Program for Adults RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Since 1973, Portage has offered this residential program to help substance-abusing men and women to achieve personal growth and lead drug-free lives.

Based on the therapeutic community approach, users benefit from positive peer influence, a qualified and committed staff, and accredited treatment techniques. Portage offers competency-based therapy treatment in the context of gender-specific programs (separate programs adapted to gender).
Users, who are able to participate in drawing up their own rehabilitation plan, undertake to:
- make the necessary effort to meet the challenges of therapy,
- recover their dignity,
- take charge of their lives.
Who qualifies for this program?
This program is intended for persons aged 18 or over who are faced with the following challenges, among other things:
- drug or alcohol abuses;
- social adjustment problems.

PORTAGE ACADEMY
Portage Academy enables adults to complete their high school education while they are undergoing therapy.
The curriculum is developed in cooperation with the local school board. Teachers work closely with clinical staff, both in class and in therapy.

The average residential program lasts six months.

The program is offered:
- in English and French at Prévost, Québec, which is located in the Laurentians.
Cost
The program is free for residents of Québec. In the majority of cases, the cost of the therapy for users outside of Québec can be covered by their province’s health department. For information, please contact Portage Montréal.
Government subsidies and private-sector funding enable Portage to provide this program to Quebec residents at no charge.
Admission
Admission to the program is voluntary.
