Movement for Integration and Retention in Employment (MIRE)
The mission of this socio-occupational reintegration employment program, which is known as MIRE, is to help adults who are socially excluded, living in chronic poverty, and experiencing major problems, to enter or re-enter the workforce.
MIRE was founded in April 2002 by the Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, in partnership with the Portage Program for Drug Dependencies Inc.
The program is based on the therapeutic community approach, with a view to helping participants to become independent and responsible from a psycho-relationally, socio-professionally and socio-community perspective. This approach simulates a work environment, with the aim of optimizing attitudes and competencies over in the short term while building the participant’s work aptitudes and abilities.
