QUÉBEC EMPLOYMENT READINESS CENTRE
In 1986, Portage launched a non-residential socio-occupational reintegration program in Québec City in order to support those who have had difficulties with gambling, as well as alcohol and substance abuse, who wish to plan an active role in society.
The approach used is based on developing personal, occupational and social competencies. The program helps users to acquire the necessary tools in order to make responsible choices.

Users benefit from guidance that enables them to make motivating and realistic career choices:
- Intake and assessment of needs
- Self-knowledge workshops
- Development of employment skills
- Computer literacy workshops
- Job-hunting assistance
- Placement and guidance aimed to fostering job retention
- Support groups

Who qualifies for this program?
This program is intended for men and women over the age of 16 who:
- have abused drugs or alcohol or have been addicted to gambling;
- want to re-enter the workforce or continue their education.

Funding from Emploi-Québec enables Portage to offer this program to residents of the National Capital area free of charge.
